Martin Aas met up with Farud from GO Gallery, one of his favourite galleries in Amsterdam.

The GO Gallery that has been open since 1997, is located on the Prinsengracht 64, in the heart of Amsterdam around the corner from the Noordemarkt.

Right from the very beginning of its existence, the GO Gallery has managed to create a Synergy between the Artworks it offers, on one hand, and the access ability of the Gallery, the other hand.

Besides exhibiting a variety of Artworks, the gallery also organizes dinner parties for friends and the artists. They also offer companies and firms the possibility to host receptions and dinners, wine tasting, product and company presentations. The catering for these events is done by the GO Gallery itself.

Because the Gallery has two large rooms, it normally has many various Artists exhibiting at the same time. Often the Gallery has shows relating to a certain topic. Some of the topics of the exhibitions held at the GO Gallery over the last years: Rolling Stones, works by the guitarist of that band, Ronnie Wood, now having exhibited his works several times at the gallery.

GOing India, an Exhibition with various Indian and Dutch artists inspired by the country. The girls from Bontekoe, before the cows roamed the pastures, they decorated the Gallery walls. Champart, and Exhibition with Champagne boxes, each individually worked over by various Artists, used as company gifts.

Baby 2000, to commemorate the Millennium Child, the Gallery was converted into a huge Nursery complete with matching artworks. Flower Power, an Exhibition all about flowers created by various Artists. Due to the ever changing artworks and introduction of new Artists, every visit to the Gallery is a pleasant surprise.
