Laurent & Lewis - Motion Video Premiere at the CREA - January 28, 2008
Martin Aas was invited to the premiere of the Laurent & Lewis's track "Motion", the video was presented for the first time in Amsterdam at the CREA. Produced and directed by Orquídea & Sandra it was a great success!
Laurent & Lewis is an Amsterdam-based duet made of American-Portuguese Lewis de Janeiro and Frenchman Laurent Chambon. They have been performing in the underground scenes of Amsterdam, Paris and Oslo.
Video art is a type of art which relies on moving pictures and is comprised of video and audio. Video art came into existence during the 1960s and 1970s, is still widely practiced and has given rise to the widespread use of video installations and music videos.

Laurent & Lewis's track "Motion" got chosen as the best song of the Demolition contest in 2007, at the Amsterdam Dance Event by DJ and techno gods Dave Clarke (UK) and Kevin Saunderson (Detroit, Michigan), and by the Dutch DJ Dylan Hermelijn.
Just released by a brand new record label, Cherry Juice Recordings (a sub-label from Wallshaker Music, Detroit), "Motion" is co-produced by Detroit House diva Aaron-Carl and Amsterdam politician of French origin Laurent Chambon.
"Motion" has been released digitally and on vinyl 12" record. The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is the most important electronic and dance music event in Europe. The Demolition contest is much feared, since DJs judging are merciless.

Their music is a mix of European melodies with a strong American groove. They have already remixed very different artists like Youssou N'dour (Senegal), Aaron-Carl (Detroit), Pacha Hristova (Bulgaria) or Mariza (Portugal).
Laurent & Lewis's also produce video art to their sound tracks. One of the key differences between video art and theatrical cinema is that video art does not necessarily rely on many of the conventions that define theatrical cinema. Video art may not employ the use of actors, may contain no dialogue, may have no discernible narrative or plot, or adhere to any of the other conventions that generally define motion pictures as entertainment.
